Me Oh Mines!

Kronax Mines Pt. 2

After awaking in the morning, the group headed back up to the entrance of the mine, they knew the road ahead would be perilous, and wanted to know what they were up against. They used the recovered basilisk blood to transform the Elven statue to his original form. They asked the frightened elf, Rhaegar, what he had seen. He told them of a hulking man, leering over 7 feet tall with a helmet of Horns upon his head. He also told them of a secret way into the mines. The group knew that if they could repel down the abandoned pulley shaft, they could regain the element of surprise. Lt. Azulah Went first nimbly climbing down. As they were climbing Albeda began to slip and fall.

Nobu quickly reached out and caught her, helping her climb down the shaft further. As they made their way further down the shaft Gemma lost her grip, but didn’t lose her head, she quickly cast Feather Fall and glided down to the bottom of the shaft. As they all made their way down, they heard the enraged voice of who they could only assume was the Man with the Horns. As Gemma tried to sneak in for a closer look, she was found by a patrolling Kobold. She engulfed him in flame, but was too late. the Alarm had been sounded.

Troglodytes came rushing down the hall ready to tear upon the group, but the Party steeled themselves and got the upper hand. Arrows whizzed overhead as the scuffle continued in the cramped quarters, the stench of the Troglodytes filling the nostrils of the Party. After Gemma and Albeda destroyed the vanguards, Nobu and Azulah rushed to the front ready to take on the approaching Kobolds. As the dust settled, they knew that the true danger was waiting for them in the following room.

As they entered the Room, Azulah took the Vanguard and attacked the Man with Horns, Who responded by summoning a Mud and Earth Elemental to fight the party. as Rocks and sludge were flung around the party knew they were in for the fight of their life. Albeda was constantly calling upon the Goddess to heal her comrades. Gemma and Nobu seemed to fall in battle, but through her devotion they rose to fight off the Elementals.

When the Man with Horns saw that his enemies were gaining the upper hand, he took off into the mine, with Azulah tearing after him. As he ran up the walkway, taking potshots at the Rogue, Azulah ducked and scrambled up the support ropes hanging to catch him. As she leveled with him she leapt from the air and landed, bowling into the Horned Man. He bowled her off the platform but she drew her dagger and planted it into his foot for support.

Nobu and Gemma had taken out the Elementals with Albeda’s help. Nobu rushed out into the cavern to fire his crossbow at the Horned Man, when Gemma approached an Orb. It was perfectly spherical and 4 ft. in diameter, and was obviously the Quarry the Horned Man was after. Touching the Orb, shewas immediately taken aback at the raw power that flew through her. Her hand arcing, she fired a lightning bolt through the mine, Searing Nobu and bringing down the causeway Azulah was on. as they fell.

They woke up the Horned man intending to ask him about the Orb. He told them his name, Ullrch, and told them he was the Herald of their Destruction before killing himself. The group helped the prisoners within the mine who helped them get the Orb out of the mine and back to Kronax. After additional study, Gemma decided to Shock the Orb.

An Ionic explosion leveld the terrain as everyone watched in awe. within the crater, Gemma. She looked possessed by lightning herself, and was speaking Celestial. Albeda translated and they figured out that the three Devas of Mannanan Mac Lir; Uriel, Ziggy Stardust, and Castiel; were possessing their friend. After conversing with them and restoring their friend they knew two things. The Old Gods were no longer a myth, and that they would have to get past the Wardestones to Red Pass, a dwarven ruin overrun by demons…
